Tarsius Monkeys are the world's smallest measuring only five inches in length, and are nocturnal in behavior. So it's a good idea to let a guide help you find these diminutive creatures inside the hollows of trees where they hide and hang when they aren't jumping around your heads, flitting from tree to tree. Tangkoko is not easy to reach, but has a good sampling of biological diversity for which the entire Sulawese area is rightfully famous.

Monkeys all over the Monkey Temple is no surprise, but sitting on top of people is. It's easy to get hurt if the monkey gets spooked for any reason, potentially causing wild behavior in a wild animal. This girl handled the situation well, maintaining calm after being surprised when the monkey jumped onto her shoulder. She then waited until the animal decided on his own to peacefully depart, several photographs later.

This old Macaque posed between meditations or application of eye shadow. I heard cautions about aggressive monkeys, but never saw anything worth concern. It just seemed sensible to limit physical contact to keep shit from happening. There are lots of them, they are very quick, and ultimately still wild.
