Pig roast and Hindu holiday make for big family activities, as most activities seem to be in Bali, perhaps aided by the fact that every other day seems a holiday of some sort. A slight exaggeration, perhaps, but they do like to get together, celebrate, honor, and commune.

Having the good fortune to befriend a most gracious Balinese local, we were invited to celebrate a religious holiday at his home and with his family. The friendly and relaxed day revolved around the pig roast, turned into Bali's delicious specialty dish of Babi Guling.

The Balinese naming system has only four names, based upon order of birth within the family. The firstborn is Wayan, second Njoman, third Made, and forth Katut. This Katut was our wonderful host while staying at the Villa Agung Beach Inn in mellow Lovina on the north coast of Bali. He was most friendly and accommodative, one of the nicest people I have met.
